Supports in College

Youth with disabilities who are college bound will find that the accommodations in their IEP will not follow them into the college setting.  These individuals need to contact their college disabilities office before college classes begin to discuss accommodations that are available in the college setting.  It is important to note that college students with disabilities must re-apply for disability service each semester, and sometimes the college may require documentation of a disability before granting accommodations.  Any evaluations done by school districts are often times not accepted as documentation, so the student may have to seek out a professional evaluation to present to the college.
